Premiere: Magna Carda Keeps It Real On Tranquil Tune, "2 Legit"

Austin's next big group is poised to cause a sonic shift in hip-hop's sound.

The hunger for substance in hip-hop has been served on a plate by some of the top solo acts in the game like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Rapsody, but duo Magda Carda is looking to shake things up with their new track, "2 Legit."

Composed of rapper Megz Kelli and producer Dougie Do, the Austin transplants have adapted the use of actual instruments intertwined with Megz's silky flows. "2 Legit" holds that premise as Megz's subtly drops bars about positive energy–or else.

Speaking to VIBE, the group shared how the song came about. "Lately we have been inspired by being on the road more and creating whatever comes to mind," they shared in a statement.

"With "2 Legit," we wanted a chill vibe that reels you in while spitting some real on top."

The chill vibe is warranted, especially with the addition of saxophonist Louk Cox's solo towards the end.

The duo has also gained the support of fellow lyrical masters The Pharcyde, Raekwon and Joey Badass. Speaking with PopDust in May, Megz explained why they refuse to dumb down their rich content.

"You can't avoid it and if you are avoiding it, it's a disservice to the art-form itself because [that's] what hip-hop is all about," she said. "It was a way for us to express our grievances or express the things that we weren't comfortable with or needed to be changed. It's almost like returning to the roots of where hip-hop was for us, or what poetry was for the black community. Realistically, I don't have millions of dollars and Balenciaga sneakers and stuff like that. It almost feels fake or phony when I try to ride that lane."

The band is scheduled to touch down in New York Friday (July 13). They're also working on their upcoming EP.

Gerald Walker

Premiere: Gerald Walker Releases 'Can't Drive A Parked Car'

Rappers have shown entrepreneurial spirit for as long as many of us can remember, starting or buying into clothing lines, alcohol companies, and more. But Chicago rapper Gerald Walker is looking to pair his music with a different world: fragrances.

"In a noisy world where anxiety and stress run rampant I wanted to do something about it. While in Marseille, France this summer I had a⁣n idea of merging smooth, soothing music with fragrances," Walker told VIBE.

"Today that idea is a reality. I’m thrilled to introduce: the Ayọ Fragrance + Design Studio. 'Ayọ' means 'Joy' in Yoruba and every fragrance seeks to catalyze that very emotion through smell."

“Can’t Drive a Parked Car” is a slinky, synthy record that sees Walker prophesying about pursuing one's goals while avoiding procrastination and excuses. It appears on Ayọ Volume One, which will be released on January 3rd, 2020. To get scents that accompany the music, visit

Premiere: Crudo Means Raw And Mabiland Reunite For Jazzy Single "La Titular"

R&B in Español isn't a new exploration, but rapper/producer Crudo Means Raw and vocalist Mabiland's latest collaboration makes it feel scared and fresh. The Colombian artists have joined forces once again for "La Titular," a thoughtful blend of dembow-funk and jazzy chords guaranteed to entice a body roll or two.

Crudo views the track as a moody rap number which makes sense given his inspirations like a Tribe Called Quest, CL Smooth and Sade. In addition to notes of love on "La Titular" it's also one of self-reflection. “La Titular" came at a time when we both found emotional stability and a couple of complicated queens," Mabiland tells VIBE VIVA. "It is also true that it emerged at a time of many changes where in progress; both changing as people, and somehow everything was also in a transition. I always enjoy being able to work with a man I am a fan of and who I call a friend." The two scored a hit last year in the Afro-Colombian fusion space and beyond with “La Mitad De La Mitad,” leading Crudo to collaborate with Juanes and former high school classmate J Balvin.

"All over the city, they were banging that track in nightclubs,” he told Rolling Stone about the track. “It would be the 2 a.m. part of the party where it gets really grimy and ratchet, and they would play my song.” If "La Mitad De La Mitad" is the turn-up, "La Titular" is definitely the futuristic Quiet Storm turn down. Other players on the track include guitarist Byron Sánchez and Las musas (Sandra Moore , Amuna y Alie) on the chorus.

Premiere: Ceraadi Provides A Proper Holiday Turn Up For "Christmas With You" Visuals

Sisterly duo Ceraadi are hilarious and charming so it's no surprise their visuals for "Christmas With You" carry the same energy.

Directed by Eli Sokhn, we find Saiyr and Emaza prepping for a typical ugly Christmas sweater party singing of their prince charmings to walk through the door. We may never see their beaus, but the dup still enjoy the bash and the spirit of the holidays–twerking with the one you love.

Emaza keeps the melodic vibes going as Saiyr drops bars about the joys of the holidays. "Christmas With You" has the makings of a holiday classic with a subtle twist to Ludacris' "What's Your Fantasy" with a groove of "My Boo" by Ghosttown DJs. If the goal was to shake things up this Christmas, the ladies have done their job.

Now available on all streaming platforms, “Christmas With You” continues to prove Ceraadi’s compelling sound and nostalgic style. The ladies of Roc Nation/Island Record have enjoyed success through singles like "Loyal" and "Dumbstruck" but they're ready to dominate 2020 with their EP. Ceraadi are also amped for their upcoming performance at The Mint in Los Angeles on December 12th.
