BLM Protesters Interrupt The Wedding Of The Cop Who Killed Stephon Clark

After discovering the wedding website for one of the cops who fatally shot and killed Stephon Clark, Sacramento Black Lives Matter protestors interrupted the officer’s wedding.

“I just wonder if you started planning your wedding before you killed Stephon Clark or after?” One demonstrator was quoted saying. “How have you been sleeping since March 18?”

It’s unclear which of the officers involved in Clark’s murder, Terrence Mercadal or Jared Robinet, got married. Sacramento police have also refused to release the name of the officer, citing safety concerns. CBS13  also blurred out protest footage from the wedding. Reportedly, the cop was in a room with his groomsmen when protestors barged in.

“You’re a murderer!” someone can be heard shouting.

Sacramento’s BLM founder Tonya Faison insisted that while the intentions of the demonstrators aren’t to harm anyone, it is to make them “uncomfortable.”

“I think they need to be approached in spaces where they’re a little more vulnerable,” Faison said. “We’re not violent, we’re not gonna give to them what they brought to our community, we’re not gonna hurt anyone but we are gonna make them uncomfortable, and they should be because someone is dead.”

Other community members didn’t share Faison’s sentiments.

“No, I don’t think it’s appropriate, that’s why I say there’s a time and place for everything,” Susiann Donaldson said.

Since Clark’s murder, police have said the officers responsible have received death threats and have needed extra security.

“People may think that these officers are just going about their lives, but this is a very traumatic event for everyone,” Sgt. Vance Chandler said. “I feel that our department has handled demonstrations and protests very well and we have taken great effort’s to allow people to exercise their First Amendment rights but on this one what is the purpose of this?”

Faison however, isn’t budging from her initial stance and notes that Clark was a young father who won’t get the chance to walk his children down the aisle.

“Stephon Clark’s family is still mourning and suffering. He doesn’t get to be with his kids, or get married,” Faison said.
