Casanova Turns Himself Into NYPD After Allegedly Attacking A Woman

Music News

Casanova has reportedly turned himself into police custody in New York on Wednesday (Aug. 15). The Brooklyn native was reportedly detained and charged with second-degree felony assault, TMZ reports.

Casanova surrendered only days after the NYPD issued a warrant for his arrest over the weekend, according to reports. The warrant stems from an incident in which the rapper was accused of taking part in the alleged beating of a woman after she was caught filming them for Instagram Live in the New York restaurant Good Stuff Diner.

The alleged victim, now identified as Niya Rucker, claimed Casanova and his posse became enraged when they saw her phone recording and grew violent in an attempt to stop her from recording. The group allegedly attacked Rucker around 4:40 a.m. EST, authorities said. Rucker alleged they broke her jaw, knocked one of her teeth out. She also said she needed stitches.

Casanova’s attorney said his client vehemently denies the allegations. “Casanova adamantly denies the allegation that he assault anyone,” the “Set Trippin'” artist’s legal team said in an official statement following the incident. “Any contention he did so is totally false. We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into these false allegations.”

It is unclear when Casanova will be released from custody.
