Update: 12:33 PM EST (August 9, 2018) –  A statement released by the University of West Indies Cave Hill campus to St.Lucia News Online  reports that Rihanna will reportedly not be receiving the honorary award from the academic institution because of scheduling conflicts.  The eligibility for obtaining the award coincides with being able to attend  the graduation ceremony. The Grammy-award winning singer was among eight other candidates honored with the university’s highest accolade.

Time and time again, Rihanna continues to win and show her prowess in a slew of different arenas. From her glorious make-up line to her vast musical catalog, there’s no denying Rih Rih’s global dominance. Now, she’s adding another credit to her extensive resume with receiving an honorary doctorate from The University of The West Indies, Rap-Up reports.

UWI is the largest higher education facility in the Caribbean, and honors those who have excelled in the arts, sciences and other fields. Rihanna is set to receive her new degree on October 20 at the Cave Hill campus in her hometown of Barbados.

While this is a major feat, it’s not the 30 year-old songstress’ first major accolade from a top educational institution. Last year, she was honored with a Humanitarian of the Year award from Harvard for her efforts in her Clara Lionel Foundation. The foundation is designed to create global initiatives to help impoverished communities with a variety of resources.

“CLF supports and funds groundbreaking and effective education, health and emergency response programs around the world,” reads the foundation’s mission statement. “With the voices of Rihanna and her fans, CLF also engages in global advocacy with the goal of improving the quality of life for young people everywhere.”

Alongside Rihanna, Honorable Justice Adrian Dudley Saunders and Professor Ebenezer Oduru Owusu will also receive awards for law and sciences.
