Sanaa Lathan Faces Hair And Real-Life Woes In ‘Nappily Ever After’ Trailer
It’s long been storied that people turn to extremes when trying to shed an excess of stress and negative energy—new clothes, new geographical location, new hair. The latter choice is the driving plot behind Netflix’s newest film, Nappily Ever After, starring Sanaa Lathan.
The movie follows Lathan’s character Violet Jones, who seems to have it all together, as she sorts her way through competing expectations of work, life and love. Things pile up before going awry. In the midst of a meltdown, she chops off her coveted tresses and learns to find herself in the aftermath. In the newly released trailer, we get a glimpse of the disappointments that lead to Violet grabbing a pair of clippers and shaving her head right there on the spot. If you were paying attention, Lathan debuted her new ‘do for the role at the end of 2017.
The romantic comedy, directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour, was adapted from Trisha R. Thomas’ 2000 novel of the same name. It officially hits Netflix on Sept. 21. Watch the trailer for Nappily Ever After below.
