Manhattan District Attorney Recommends Prison Time For Tekashi 6ix9ine

Although Tekashi 6ix9ine has managed to stay at the top of the Billboard charts, he’s also made it on law enforcement’s bad side. After a series of arrests, public feuds, and other misdemeanor charges this year, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has reportedly filed a letter to a presiding judge, recommending that Tekashi be sentenced to one to three years in state prison, Pitchfork reports.

The letter was reportedly filed on Aug. 3. In addition to prison time, the DA suggested Tekashi – whose real name is Daniel Hernandez – be registered as a sex offender.

The recommendation ultimately stems from 6ix9ine’s 2015 child sex case in which he entered a guilty plea to the use of a child in a sexual performance. All parties agreed to the plea deal on the basis that Tekashi would not commit another crime for at least two years.

Unfortunately, the rapper couldn’t hold up his end of the bargain. He has since faced charges for misdemeanor assault, driving with a suspended license, and allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Prior to the new reports, Tekashi posted a video on Instagram, saying that he was going to be locked up “forever.” He released his music video  “Fefe” starring Nicki Minaj in July 2018, which he stated would be his last visual release before jail.

Sentencing for Tekashi’s case will be held on Oct. 2.
