Earlier in the week, Travis Scott announced that he would be handing out $100k via Cash App to fans who tweeted him AstroWorld lyrics and their Cash App handle. Not only is this generous, but it’s also helping those who need it most.
Peter Valdriz knows firsthand how impactful this particular Cash App campaign is. The young man wrote to Scott via Twitter that he needed assistance paying for his mother’s funeral.
“This would definitely help with my Mom’s funeral cost. It’s worth a shot,” Valdriz tweeted. Not only did Peter receive $800 from the rapper-producer, he also got a personalized message from Scott.
“For not much but hope can help,” wrote Scott in his message, which Valdriz screenshot. “Ur mom [shining] down on ya,” he continued, placing a smiling sun emoji in the text.
According to TMZ, Valdriz’s mother recently lost her battle with a brain virus. Travis’ generous donation was sent on what would have been her 52nd birthday, and it will go right to the funeral’s expenses. Scott’s donation has also inspired others to donate to Valdriz’s Cash App account in order to help pay for the funeral, which will be held next week.
“I personally want to thank Travis Scott for really making a tough day for my family into a day we can cherish,” said Peter on behalf of his family.
This just warms our hearts. Good on ya, Trav.
