Ari Lennox Is Jaded By Faded Love In Ethereal “Whipped Cream” Video

Ari Lennox has been putting in work. A few weeks after her emotionally-driven call to quit music, the soulful singer returns with an acoustic video for her new single “Whipped Cream.”

Today (Sept. 5), Dreamville’s leading lady has dropped the official video for the track, taking viewers back on a nostalgic journey in the remnants of lovers past. Directed by Ryan Doubiago and produced by Darius Turbak, the cinematic tale finds Lennox trapped by the memories of an ex-lover. Feeling his presence in his absence, the “Night Drive” singer struggles in her daily life as she dreams vividly of him in a failed effort to move on.

“I’m gon’ go to the gym, squat real low for a man/ ‘Round you it revolves, I can’t shake it off/ Unrequited, admit it, you were never mine at all,” sings Ari as she strives to focus on herself. Relatable to all listeners, the R&B songstress is drawn to the allure of history, regardless of how broken a situation is.

Through jaded vision, “Whipped Cream” narrates Ari’s bittersweet feelings toward a previous relationship. Charming, inviting and reminiscent, Ari Lennox’s “Whipped Cream” is the video we didn’t know we needed.

Regardless of her previous dispute with her career, next up for Ari is the first-ever Dreamville Festival set to hit North Carolina this September 15 and her long-awaited debut album. Lennox dropped her PHO EP in 2016, sparking the single “Backseat” with fellow Dreamville bredren Cozz.
