Cardi B Reportedly Wants Her Own Set At Super Bowl LIII

With Super Bowl LIII coming to Atlanta, the NFL had a huge opportunity to demonstrate the likes of the black community.

Given the culture’s impact on the league, featuring Atlanta’s buzzing music scene during Pepsi’s halftime show is seemingly indisputable to everyone except the NFL, who has recently tapped Maroon 5 for the iconic show. With artists like Travis Scott and Cardi B originally on the shortlist for guest performers, recent reports reveal that Cardi B is the chosen one – as long as she gets her own set.

Cardi was originally invited to perform hit-song “Girls Like You” alongside the pop band but refuses to settle on a one-song deal. After an extensive maternity leave Bardi wants her own set or she walks, says TMZ.

Last week, Waka Flocka Flame called out the NFL for their half-time show decision, voicing the concerns of the entire Hip-Hop community. “It’s not fair,” Flame told TMZ Sports, “but it’s the NFL we talkin’ about, they not fair.”

According to the ATL rapper, since the league is coming to the “blackest state in America,” the least they could do is allows a black artist perform to demonstrate the community’s progress, especially after their lack of support surrounding the Kaepernick-led “Take A Knee” movement.

Though Cardi isn’t native to the ATL music scene, her performance is a step in the right direction.
