The summer might be coming to an end, but Childish Gambino delivered a fitting gift for the season with a video to his latest single, “Feels Like Summer.”
Arriving Sunday (Sept. 2), the animated video features Mr. Glover walking through his neighborhood as the community is reimagined with hip-hop and R&B artists of the modern age. Younger acts like Lil Pump and Trippie Redd play in the neighborhood as Drake chases around Future. There are also lovely odes to Will Smith and a special dedication to Fredro Santana, who passed away after a battle with lean addiction in January.
Plenty of layered messages reside in the visual with Michelle Obama comforting Kanye West and newly elected Florida Gov. Andrew Gillium sitting on a park bench with melting vanilla and chocolate ice cream, possibly referencing slain rapper XXXTentacion.
Gambino released “Feel Like Summer” with “Summertime Magic” as apart of his Summer Pack EP in July.
