Dave Chappelle To Voice T.I.'s Subconscious On 'The Dime Trap'
Tip's forthcoming album is bound to shake the rap table.
Posted to Instagram Tuesday (Sept. 25), the rap veteran shared a teaser about the album featuring Chappelle as the "voice in his head." "All my life all I wanted to do is be great," Chappelle says in fifty-second video.
"If the stakes are everything, you'll tell yourself anything you need to hear to survive. Everything I say is the truth and that's a lie. And that's the motherf**king truth."
After the voice over, T.I. debuts a snippet from the album.
This isn't the first time the comedian has worked with rappers. For Kendrick Lamar's Grammy performance earlier this year, Chappelle provided poignant banter during the set's interludes.
In a recent interview with VIBE, T.I. broke down some of the themes around the album.
"It’s a conversation of where trap music began and the growth and evolution to where it is now, especially what I’ve learned and what the people have learned from that journey,” he said. “I try to treat it like a TED talk for trap n**gas. If anyone cares about the orders of operation, here it is for you.”
Though fans can expect the new album any day now, there has yet to be an official release date set. The Dime Trap will be the Hustle Gang creator's first studio album since his Paperwork LP in 2014. He also released two politically charged EPs Us or Else and Us or Else: Letter To The System in 2016.
