A Bronx Teacher Who Sexually Assaulted A 14-Year-Old Is Still Allowed To Teach

A Bronx teacher who admitted to performing oral sex on a 14-year-old student will avoid jail time and still be allowed to teach.

According to The New York Daily News, Dory Myers received 10-years probation and keep her teaching certificate. Judge Michael Obus found her to be a Level 1 sex offender, which she will have to register as. Prosecutors urged that the 30-year-old teacher at least serve two years in prison.

Myers taught social studies at the New School of Leadership and the Arts in Kingsbridge. The assault, which took place multiple times in November 2016, was discovered by a teacher who spoke with a friend of the victim. She was arrested on Jan. 19, 2017.

“Ms. Myers was fired and she is not eligible to work in New York City schools again,” said Department of Education spokesman Doug Cohen.

The teen also reportedly posted a video of him and Myers cuddled together on Snapchat with the caption ” Me and my sexy ass wife.”

According to a criminal complaint, Myers is accused of performing oral sex on the boy at West 168th Street and Broadway in the Washington Heights section of New York  In the courtroom, Myers’ husband, who’s a Rockland Sheriff Officer, wasn’t at her sentencing.
