Jay Ellis Discusses Lawrence's Return To 'Insecure' On 'Kimmel Live'
Jay Ellis stopped by Jimmel Kimmel Live! to discuss his role as Lawrence's highly-anticipated return to the HBO show Insecure. Members of the #LawrenceHive were up in arms about the fact that Lawrence appeared to be written out of the show. He discussed with Kimmel the crazy reactions to the news.
"There were petitions," the actor said of his character’s perceived dismissal from the series’ third season. "There was this petition on this site called Care2. There were people protesting at screenings in New York and LA. Friends of mine would send me clips and it was like 'No Lawrence, No Peace!'"
Before next week’s season finale, Kimmel suggests that Ellis says that Lawrence will disappear again in order to start the cycle over.
“I like that, but the problem is I don't want people to be mad and call me a liar,” he laughed.
Elsewhere in the interview, Ellis discussed his involvement in the upcoming Top Gun sequel, where he praises Tom Cruise’s ability to connect.
"It's amazing, man," Ellis said of his uber-famous co-star. "He has this ability to look you in the eye and make you feel like you're the prettiest girl in the room like no one else exists. It doesn't matter how boring you are. It doesn't matter what you talk about. It's just him and you. It's the most amazing thing."
