Jemele Hill Will Narrate LeBron James New Doc ‘Shut Up & Dribble’

Jemele Hill has an epic new gig lined up. The former ESPN host has reportedly signed on to narrate Lebron James’ upcoming basketball documentary Shut Up and Dribble at Showtime, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The documentary will reportedly be divided into three parts, which will be directed by Gotham Chopra. The title was inspired by conservative correspondent  Laura Ingraham, who used the phrase to condemn James and Kevin Durant for their anti-Trump comments made during a segment on James’ Uninterrupted platform.

James has been an outspoken force against Trump and his administration. “I think LeBron, like a lot of people, has been very frustrated by the behavior of this administration,” Hill said of the athlete to The Hollywood Reporter. “[Black Americans] feel very insulted and vulnerable within this time because of who’s in charge.”

Hill was originally booked to appear as an interviewee in the documentary, but since the journalist has also publicly expressed distaste for President Trump (she vocalized her dismay especially during the violent marches in Charlottesville, Virginia), she seemed like a perfect fit to narrate the doc. “Once you’re in the club, it’s something that binds you,” Hill said of criticizing Trump.

Hill also commended James for uplifting black, female voices. “Lately LeBron has talked about gender and wanting to uplift and position black women in particular,” Hill continued. “I get the sense that this is all part of that. He was raised by a black woman, he is married to a black woman and he is raising a black woman. If you look at the societal ladder, black women remain on the lowest rung. He clearly understands that we are facing a unique battle. It means a lot that he understands the intricacies of that.”

The documentary will include other interviews from NBA stars, including Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley, and Isaiah Thomas, as well as pop culture influencers like JAY-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Sway Calloway.

Shut Up and Dribble does not have a release date at this time.
