Joe Budden Responds To Eminem ‘Kamikaze’ Diss, Says He’s Been Better Than Him

Eminem’s surprise Kamikaze album continues to stir conversation within the hip-hop community. On Slim Shady’s 10th-studio album, Em comes at the necks of a couple of his hip-hop contemporaries like Lil Yachty and Machine Gun Kelly (who boldly struck back with a diss track of his own titled “Rap Devil”).

On the Kamikaze track “Fall,” the 45-year-old rapper went at former Shady Records signee, Joe Budden, who has transformed into a veritable hip-hop critic. On Wednesday (Sept. 5), the former Slaughterhouse member addressed Em’s diss on The Joe Budden Podcast.

During the three-hour long conversation, the Jersey City-bred “kept it a bean” and admitted that Em is one of the game’s better MCs, and recalled a time when he admired Eminem’s wordplay. However, Budden claims he’s been better than Slim Shady for the past decade.

“They sheltered you your whole fu**ing career. They had to. You [were] doing amazing sh*t and you’ve been sheltered,” said Budden. “Newsflash…I’ve been better than you this entire fu**ing decade. I can’t say that back then. But in my rapper brain, I’m a content ni**a. You have to say something. You haven’t said anything for the better part of a whole fu**ing decade.

“You have rhymed a bunch of words. Em, let me give you some love. Em is the best rhymer of words on the planet. He can rhyme letters. He can rhyme words that don’t rhyme. He can rhyme accents, damn near. He can do a lot.”

The “Pump It Up” rapper added that Eminem can’t bully MCs like he’s done with pop stars.

“You’ve been in your cocoon, so you’re unaware of a few things. The tricks that you tried with the pop stars, you can’t come out of your cocoon and pull with the rappers. Em, you’re no longer in control,” Budden said.

During the podcast, Budden went on to address Colin Kaepernick,  Nike, and Kanye West’s attempts to rebrand himself, and much more.

In other Budden news, the 38-year-old shared a clip of an unreleased conversation with KXNG Crooked, where the comrades debate over why Shady Records stop funding Slaughterhouses unreleased Welcome To Our House album.

I never released this interview because some parts of this talk needed to stay right there, but I’ll be honest, I’ve watched it about 100 times this weekend…. Make trust important in all of your endeavors. I’ll talk about it later.
