Mary J. Blige Denies Fighting Faith Evans At Party

"Of course that was made up..."

In the wee hours of Saturday, Sept. 8, rumors swirled that Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans got into a squabble during a party hosted by Diddy in the Hamptons. There were no videos of the incident, nor were there any official reports about what started the issue, and that's likely because the fight didn't really happen.

Blige dispelled the rumors on Monday (Sept. 10) while being interviewed on the red carpet during the Dennis Basso show at New York Fashion Week.

“Of course that was made up. I was shooting a movie in Louisiana . . . I just got here today,” she told Page Six. Additionally, a representative for Evans said that the story was completely false.

“I have no idea how this rumor started," they said. "Puffy didn’t even have a party."

The fabled fight between the musical giants came on the heels of a highly-publicized Fashion Week altercation between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. During the latter incident, Cardi B reportedly threw a shoe at Minaj and her entourage, alleging that Minaj 'favorited' hurtful comments about her parenting skills.

"...when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f**kin off!!" Cardi wrote on Instagram.

Parental Rights Revoked For Alabama Residents Convicted Of Rape

A new Alabama law requires judges to prohibit the parental rights of residents convicted of first-degree rape and certain sex crimes. The piece of legislation now closes a legal window that previously allowed rapists custody of their children, which were conceived through sexual assault.

News of the law comes a little more than a month after the state passed one of the nation's strictest anti-abortion laws, only allowing a woman to terminate her pregnancy in cases of rape and or incest. The mandate is reportedly part of a new statue titled Jessi's Law.

However, phrasing found inside the 10-page legal text has pro-choice activists concerned. For anyone found guilty of rape and certain sex crimes, their rights as parents are forfeited, yet many have argued that countless rapes and sexual assaults go unreported, and if they are told to authorities, getting a conviction is difficult to do.

Activist think judges in Alabama should end custody if "‘clear and convincing evidence’’ proves a sexual assault took place. This is the standard used in many states according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

The law was named after an Alabama girl named Jessi who was raped by her biological father. Jessi's Law will go into effect Sept. 1.

Dave East Teases Potential Move To The NBA

He's a rapper, an actor, and soon-to-be professional basketball player? Dave East is a man of many talents. The Def Jam artist revealed to TMZ Sports that he's considering making a play for the NBA and trying out for the New York Knicks team. A proud born-and-raised New Yorker, East said that the Knicks are the only team on his mind.

"I might," the 31-year old said when asked if he would try out for the NBA. "It's gotta be the Knicks though. It's gotta be in New York." The rapper's pursuit of a professional basketball career isn't too farfetched, in fact, he had a successful career as a college basketball player.

His years playing in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) as a teenager against current NBA players Ty Lawson, Greivis Vazquez, and Kevin Durant, who he developed a close friendship with, led the rapper to division one scholarship offers from the University of Richmond and Towson University. East ended up playing for the Richmond Spiders but later transferred to Towson where he also didn't last too long due to his deteriorating relationship with the school's coach.

Soon after leaving Towson, East traded in his basketball sneakers for a mic and a studio booth and hasn't looked back since — until now. His 6-foot-5 frame definitely increases his chances of playing in the league and he wouldn't be the first rapper to make the switch; Master P famously played for the Toronto Raptors and the Charlotte Hornets in 1999 and 1998, respectively.

If luck is on the Harlem rapper's side and if the NBA trade rumors are true, East could very well end up playing with his friend Durant and prized point guard of the Boston Celtics, Kyrie Irving.
