Report: Michael B Jordan Being Considered To Play Superman
DC Films is reportedly on the hunt for a new Superman after it’s former actor, Henry Cavill is parting ways with the company. To replace Cavill who has starred in three of DC’s recent films, the company is reportedly looking to move in a different direction, eyeing Michael B. Jordan to fill the role, Deadline reports.
DC has confirmed that casting a new Superman is far “down the road,” as there will not be another Superman film for at least a couple of years. But the company has stated it is definitely open to moving a less conventional direction. In the meantime, the company is focusing on its female counterpart, Supergirl.
Cavill previously filled the superhero’s suit three times in Warner Bros. and DC’s shared films, Man of Steel (2013), Batman v. Superman (2016), and Justice League (2017).
While Michael B. Jordan is not the only actor being considered for the gig, he definitely has the resume to prove he is a capable candidate. Jordan recently starred as the villain Erik Killmonger in Marvel Studio’s Black Panther. He also played a superhero in 20th Century Fox’s reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
In celebration of the rumors, fans have already begun to flood social media with fan art of Jordan in his Superman costume. Only time will tell if the fan art will become a reality.
