Pharrell Williams To Narrate Illumination’s ‘The Grinch’

Movies & TV

The Grinch will steal christmas again this holiday season. Joined by Pharrell Williams, Universal Pictures and Illumination will re-adapt Dr. Suess’ “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” for their newest animation, The Grinch.

Williams, who previously helped Universal and Illumination’s Despicable Me top box-office sales with his Oscar-nominated single “Happy,” has worked with the studio giants once again – but not to score the film.

Instead, Williams will serve as the narrator, along with Benedict Cumberbatch who will voice The Grinch character, as well as Rashida Jones, SNL’s Keenan Thompson, Cameron Seely and Angela Lansbury who will voice other primary characters.

In addition to Williams, Tyler, the Creator will also play a large role in the film’s creation. On Tuesday, The Flower Boy rapper revealed he has composed and recorded an original song dubbed “I Am The Grinch” for the film.

Oscar-nominated writer Danny Elfman has composed the film’s score, with Tyler, the Creator assisting him on a new rendition of a Grinch fan-favorite, “You’re A Mean One.”
