Rihanna's 'Savage x Fenty' Fashion Show Celebrates Diversity, Body Positivity
An all-inclusive lingerie line gets an all-inclusive runway show.
Unlike the traditional lingerie fashion show, Rihanna unveiled her Fall/Winter 2018 Savage x Fenty lingerie line at the Brooklyn Navy Yard during New York Fashion Week on Wednesday (Sept. 13), where she enlisted women of all sizes, shapes and colors to the runway to model her body- inclusive collection.
Model Slick Woods, who recently announced she was pregnant, proudly showed off her baby bump during the show in a barely-there ensemble and pasties, while models Bella and Gigi Hadid also walked the runway. Additionally, plus-sized models showed their curves in pieces from the collection, which ranges from 32A to 44 DD in bras, XS to 3X in undies.
The models also performed inspiring dance numbers in the ethereal landscape, which was made to appear like a peaceful garden. Needless to say, the Fenty x Savage fashion show did not disappoint.
“Savage is really about taking complete ownership of how you feel and the choices you make. Basically making sure everybody knows the ball is in your court,” Rih told Vogue earlier this year. “As women, we’re looked at as the needy ones, the naggy ones, the ones who are going to be heartbroken in a relationship. Savage is just the reverse. And you know, guys don’t like getting the cards flipped on them—ever.”
