White Woman Sends Racist Text To Nanny Then Fires Her For Being Offended

National

Lynsey Plasco-Flaxman was in the market for a nanny to help out with her children. However, when Plasco-Flaxman realized the new nanny, Giselle Maurice is African-American she sent a text.

“NOOOOOOOOOOO ANOTHER BLACK PERSON.”

She intended to send it to her husband,  Joel Plasco, co-chairman of the Dalmore Group investment bank. Instead, she sent it to Maurice. Twice.

When Plasco-Flaxman realized her blunder she fired Maurice. Now, Maurice is firing back with a discrimination lawsuit. The 44-year-old is seeking compensation for the wages she says she was promised, which is $350 a day for the six-months live-in job.

“[I want] to show them, look, you don’t do stuff like that,” Maurice told The Post. Maurice said she was paid for single day’s work and sent home in an Uber. “I know it’s discrimination.”

However, the couple says it was only reasonable to fire her after the text was sent.

“[My wife] had sent her something that she didn’t mean to say. She’s not a racist. We’re not racist people, but would you put your children in the hands of someone you’ve been rude to, even if it was by mistake? Your newborn baby? Come on.”

The last nanny the couple had was black and they say they were expecting a Filipino woman. Maurice alleges she wouldn’t have treated the children any differently.

“This is my reputation. Why would I do something to a baby?” she said. “I was willing to work with her and prove her wrong, but it was her conscience, and she couldn’t work with me anymore.”

Maurice said she tried to settle the dispute with mediation and when it didn’t pan out, she filed the lawsuit. Plasco says they don’t owe Maurice any money because there was no contract and her suit is just “extortion.”

“I’m not someone who has millions of dollars lying around to just pay off people that are coming after me for extortion. And now you’re playing straight into her hands.”
