An Amy Winehouse Hologram Tour Is Happening

Music News

Back in 2014, it was rumored that a hologram of the late singer Amy Winehouse would embark on a tour around the world. Well, after years of development, it is actually going to happen, the singer’s father, Mitchell “Mitch” Winehouse confirmed to Reuters.

The tour will reportedly feature a live band with accompanying  vocals from the Back to Black artist’s original recordings. “We felt this would be a tremendous way for Amy both to revisit her fans through a hologram, and also an incredible way to raise money for our foundation,” Mitch said in a statement.

Brian Becker, Chief Executive of BASE Hologram – the company that will handle technical details of the hologram – said: “We will do the best we can in terms of honoring her legacy. This is a celebration.”

News of a hologram tour comes shortly after a new documentary surrounding the artist was announced. Amy Winehouse – Back to Black is slated to debut sometime next month and will discuss the creative process behind her 2006 album. It will feature vintage footage, original recordings, and interviews with frequent collaborators including Mark Ronson, Salaam Remi, and more.

The Amy Winehouse hologram tour is set to hit the road in 2019. All of the proceeds from the concert will reportedly benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
