This is not the first time Lamar and .Paak have collaborated. They both appeared on Dr. Dre's "Deep Waters" in 2015 and again on "Bloody Waters" off TDE's Black Panther: The Album, though the two have yet to work together in the studio.
"Everything we’ve done has been over the web," Paak told Zane Lowe of Beats 1 Radio prior to the track's premiere. "Some people you can trust to just send it and they gonna send it back and it’s gonna be flames. I just knew that would be the case with him."
Executively produced by Dr. Dre and Madlib, Oxnard will act as the follow-up to .Paak's 2016 LP Malibu. With features from Lamar, Pusha T, J. Cole and more, the album is set to be yet another funky installment on .Paak's growing resume.
