Dee-1 Masters The Art Of Combining Streets With “Intelligence” In New Video

Rapper and social activist Dee-1 has released the official music video for “Intelligence.” Coming off his 2017 LP Slingshot David, “Intelligence” is a fun and playful song with a message that resonates. Offering some insight into the importance of celebrating diversity found in historically black communities, the track warns against the harmful labels that are unjustly attached to people.

“And who you, and who you testing, boy?/ Hard times a blessing boy, gon’ learn your lesson boy/ And we ain’t stressing boy, we from the street/ Man, you wouldn’t last fourteen days, you too weak” Dee-1 spits.

Despite the difficulties, Dee-1 has gone through in his come up, “Intelligence” is a fresh and honest celebration of the tenacity, hard work and focus people like Dee has applied to move ahead.

“When I rap, I want to make an impact,” says the New Orleans rapper. “When someone hears my music, it should evoke an emotion or a response. I’m really trying to change lives for the better and make people look outside of what their current situation is. I want everyone to live the life that they were put here on this earth for.”
