LeBron James Wears Kaepernick Shirt To Lakers Game
LeBron James showed up to the third preseason game of his new life as a Los Angeles Laker with a Colin Kaepernick shirt on. The black long-sleeved shirt has the NFL free agent's named emblazoned on the back of it. He was photographed walking through the arena and also in the locker room with his statement-making shirt on.
James is a Nike athlete who is featured in the brand's 30th anniversary 'Just Do It' advertisement along with Kaepernick, Serena Williams and more. According to TMZ, he was making a statement of support for the social and civil rights figure.
"I wore a Kaepernick shirt tonight, one, because it's Nike and I'm a Nike guy,” he reportedly said. “And then, two, I support Kap. I've always supported Kap and what he stands for and what he believes in."
James also posted multiple photos with his Kaepernick shirt on Instagram. The post, which has over one million likes, was liked by athletes such as Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr.
Kaepernick is the new face of Nike’s 30th anniversary Just Do It campaign, and the tagline “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything” has been praised (and of course meme'd) since the advertisement’s release.
