Most people can relate to the difficulty of turning a good friend into a great lover and Alexis Ayanna’s new video for “Crash and Burn” captures this mood perfectly.

The Theeves Production directed and shot video features a beautiful brown Alexis joined by an equally handsome man as they hang out with each other in restaurants and parks. As the visual moves forward the 23-year-old model and singer catches feelings for her close friend singing, “Don’t let me down/ Don’t let me drown/I find myself sinking in/ I don’t want to crash and burn.”

“I immediately loved this song because I could relate to everything the lyrics were saying. I’ve been in a situation where I wanted to be with someone who I was friends with but they didn’t want to take it to the next level with me. I couldn’t understand why,” Alexis Ayanna Told VIBE. “I knew this is something plenty other people could relate to as well. It’s such a pretty song but it’s also very sad if you’ve been in a situation like this.”

The video reaches its dramatic climax when Alexis Ayanna reaches for the hand of her crush and he pulls away, an argument ensues and the singer is left in tears.

“Crash and Burn” comes from Twenty One, Alexis Ayanna’s EP that was released in February of 2017. Drumma Boy produced the project, which features appearances from Quavo and Kwony Cash.
