Rapsody And J. Cole Team Up For New Single “Sojourner”

Music News

Rapsody and J. Cole recently teamed up for a new single called “Soujourner.” The track, which was released on Friday (Oct. 26), definitely has an old school hip-hop vibe to it.

J. Cole kicks off the hook and the first verse where he raps about growing up in a household where his loved ones suffered from addiction and mental health issues. Born into pain, alcoholic veins / Over-analytical brain a product of the shame / And running from a past, that’s checkered like the game / Somewhere along the way somebody snatched my peace,” he spits.

Rapsody then comes in on the second verse with crisp bars. “Yeah, I know my worth / These colonizers got to pay me / Yeah, I had to go first because the rest would never last / I had to show the positives for those who couldn’t add,” she raps.

“Sojourner” will appear on the forthcoming compilation project Jamla Is the Squad II from Jamla Records, which is slated to drop on Nov. 9. Additionally, this is the first collaboration between Cole and Rapsody who are both North Carolina natives and Roc Nation artists.
