Styles P Says Drake Is Wrong About Rap Beefs: “Ain’t No Rules”
Drake shared some interesting thoughts about his recent rap beef with Pusha T on HBO’s The Shop with Lebron James. During the conversation, Drizzy argued that there are rules to follow when engaging in rap beef, and that Pusha broke them when he wished death upon Drake’s friend Noah “40” Shebib – who struggles with MS – on his diss track “The Story of Adidon.” Not everyone would agree with that argument though. In a recent interview with Hot97 on Oct. 16, Styles P argued the complete opposite: there are no rules in rap beefs.
“You can’t expect in any type of warfare, any type, not just rap, ain’t no rules,” Styles said. “You gotta go into it knowing anything could happen. That’s why your best bet is to not engage. Stay away from beef at all costs.”
Styles also noted that Drake can’t create rules that he doesn’t even abide by. “I don’t got nothing against Drake, but how does a guy say what’s the rules in a rap battle that had a ghostwriter before. That’s not fair dog,” he continued. “You gotta stay up there. You’re beautiful up there. We love you up there. But don’t come down here and change the rules. That’s wrong because it’s war.”
He added: “Something else you’re asking him to do is not follow tradition. Pusha-T is not a new rapper, he’s been around for a while. There’s no rules in this. He’s heard it all when he’s heard beef.
As previously reported, Drake appeared to very upset about Push’s comments about 40. In the latest episode of the HBO series, he suggested that someone was going to “punch” the G.O.O.D Music artist in his face for what he said. “When you mention defenseless people who are sick in the hospital, that passed away, that really sent me to a place where I just believed then, and believe now, that there’s just a price that you have to pay for that,” he said at the time.
While that may have been a low blow, Styles P advised Drake to avoid rap battles from now on. “Drake, you the biggest guy in the game, just chill, there’s nothing wrong with that. It shouldn’t have been a battle,” he continued.
