Tiffany Haddish Battles (And Beats) Jimmy Fallon During 'Lip Sync Battle'
If there's one thing we know about Tiffany Haddish, it's that she's in it to win it. With an insatiable work ethic that she says stems from once being "homeless and hungry," we've seen her excel at the box office not once, but twice, with both Girls Trip and Night School.
But thing with the infectious comedienne is that she's even going hard when she's in play mode. Take her fun appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, for example. Last night, she made her way to the set to parttake in a head-to-head "Lip Sync Battle" with the late night talk show host.
While Fallon opted to tap into Deee-Lite and Post Malone for their songs "Groove Is In The Heart" and "Psycho," respectively, it's evident that Haddish stole the show with her selections. She first started with a true-to-her-roots delivery of Lady of Rage's 1994 song, "Afro Puffs." She prefaced the rendition by nodding to her own love for the artist (“When I was growing up in Los Angeles, this artist was one of my favorite female emcees, and she still is today”) before going into a mean C-walk.
Her real moment of truth, however, was her enthusiastic delivery of James Brown's "Get On Up," complete with the fancy footwork and the inclusion of a cape. "For my final song, I had to go deep, Jimmy. So I had to go with the godfather... the Godfather of Soul, James Brown," she said.
