Kanye West's '808s & Heartbreak' Anniversary Tour Is Coming

The tour will not include Kanye.

Kanye West and fans recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of his game-changing album 808s & Heartbreak on Nov. 24, but the party is far from over. Frequent Kanye collaborator and producer Malik Yusef recently announced that an 808s & Heartbreak anniversary tour will hit the U.S. soon.

Unfortunately, Kanye will not be participating in the tour. The event will reportedly be sponsored and hosted by Yusef as a way to honor Ye's fourth studio album and its impact on hip-hop culture.

The tour will feature local artists performing renditions of tracks from the album. Each artist will be selected through an online voting system from cities around the U.S.

"Any musicians have the ability to be a part of the tour, as the musical acts will be curated through an open application audition," Yusef said in a press release. "Each artist or group will perform songs from the 808s & Heartbreak album in their own style, paying tribute to Kanye West's original tracks."

The anniversary tour will reportedly hit 15 major cities, kicking off in Los Angeles followed by New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Miami. Its final stop will be in San Francisco.

Dates for the 808s & Heartbreak anniversary tour have not been announced yet. They will be posted on Yusef's website and on Instagram at a later date.

Janet Jackson To Be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Janet Jackson is among the many musicians who will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 2019 class.

Ms. Jackson, Radiohead, The Cure, Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, Def Leppard, and the Zombies are the very talented musicians who will be honored at the 34th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The highly-coveted ceremony will be held on Mar. 29 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Jackson, whose career spans several decades, responded to the exciting news with a tweet. “We did it u guys,” she wrote with a purple heart. “Thank U for all your love and support. #RockHall2019.”

This has been a banner year for Jackson. Earlier this year, she performed at the 2018 Essence Festival, Billboard Music Awards, Panorama Music Festival, and the Global Citizens Festival. She also teamed up with Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee for a new single, “Made For Now.”

“I'm deeply humbled and grateful for this award. I believe for all the challenges we live at a glorious moment in history,” she said during her Icon Award acceptance speech at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. “It's a moment at long last that's made it clear that we will no longer be controlled, manipulated or abused."

Congrats to all of the inductees.

Sir Elton John Covers Khalid's "Young Dumb And Broke"

Khalid has had the opportunity to cover songs from some legendary musicians like Tracy Chapman. Now, the tables have turned. Sir Elton John recently covered the Texan’s 2017 hit “Young Dumb & Broke.”

The “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” musician reworked Khalid’s American Teen track for the Spotify Singles series. In a statement, he praised the young musician’s growth, and he called the song “one of [his] favorites.” Khalid can be heard at the end of the Elton version singing along.

“I discovered Khalid’s music a few years ago, and have been a fan ever since,” Sir Elton wrote. “We finally met when I played his home town of El Paso last year. It’s a thrill to be a small part of any new artist’s journey, and it’s been wonderful to see his star continue to rise and rise. ‘Young Dumb & Broke’ is a fabulous song, one of my favorites, and I’m really pleased that he liked my cover enough to contribute vocals.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Sir Elton has praised members of the newer generation of music. His song “Rocket Man” is sampled in Young Thug’s On The Rvn EP. In the past, he’s sung Thugger’s praises, namely in a 2015 interview with Noisey, where he noted he enjoyed how he pushed the boundaries of hip-hop.

Miley Cyrus Is Making Music With Mike Will Made It Again After Dissing Hip-Hop

Miley Cyrus recently revealed she’ll be reuniting with Mike Will Made It on her upcoming album, which could be considered a controversial move since shunning hip-hop last year. In a recent interview with the radio station 95.5 PLJ, Cyrus explained that her next album will feature a wide range of genres, one of being hip-hop.

“A song that [Mark Ronson] and I have done together is more rock driven, modern Debbie Harry or Joan Jett,” she said. “Then we've got songs with Mike Will [Made It] that lean more hip-hop and songs with Andrew Wyatt that lean more pop/alternative. I just have kind of everything."

This revelation comes a year after the former Hannah Montana star called out hip-hop and distanced herself from the genre in a interview with Billboard, which prompted many to label her as a culture vulture.

“But I also love that new Kendrick [Lamar] song [‘Humble’]: ‘Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks,’” she said in the interview. “I love that because it’s not ‘Come sit on my d**k, suck on my c**k.’ I can’t listen to that anymore. That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much ‘Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my c**k’ — I am so not that.”

For her fourth-album Bangerz, the former Hannah Montana star called on Mike Will to executive produce the effort. Pharrell Williams and will.i.am to work on the production. French Montana, Future, Nelly and Ludacris were also featured artists on the project.

Cyrus’s recent country-pop/rock effort, Younger Now, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 45,000 equivalent units sold in its first week. The project as a whole failed to garner any certification from the RIAA.
