YBN Crew Help Launch Vevo's ‘Artists To Watch’ Series For 2019

Nah for real.

On Monday (Nov. 26), Vevo announced their 2019 DSCVR Artists To Watch series with the cross-country hip-hop collective YBN Crew. The 10-member group boasts members such as YBN Almighty Jay, YBN Nahmir and YBN Cordae.

The series which has helped upstart the careers of now-popular urban artists such as Young M.A. and Alessia Cara are bringing in the Atlantic Records-signed act for in-house performances.

The members of YBN, which stands for Young Boss Ni***as met through online video gaming and would gain notoriety when its member YBN Nahmir, released his music video for "Rubbin' Off The Paint" which has since garnered 141 million views on YouTube. Their first compilation release, YBN: The Mixtape dropped in September and featured collaborations with hip-hop heavyweights such as Gucci Mane, Machine Gun Kelly, and Chris Brown.

In a statement to Billboard, Vevo's head of music and talent Jordan Glickson said “2019 is going to be a big year for the YBN Crew. This collective is not holding back and with support from Wiz Khalifa and Gucci Mane, I’m really excited to see what they will do next."

"As individuals, each member is so talented; forming as a group meant they were a no-brainer for this list. The scene is ready for their sound and I’m expecting big things," he added.

Beyonce's 'Lion King' Soundtrack Features Blue Ivy, Jay-Z, Pharrell And More

Beyonce has unveiled the tracklist for her executive-produced compilation, The Lion King: The Gift, on Tuesday (July 16). Inspired by the film's live-action remake, the soundtrack features a range of artists that will bring their unique voices to the 14-track collection.

Fans will hear the sounds of Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Tierra Whack, Pharrell, 070 Shake, Jay-Z and more. To begin the project's rollout, Beyonce released its lead single, "Spirit," that paid homage to the original film's "Circle of Life" hit melody.

Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records will release The Lion King: The Gift on Friday (July 19). The "Halo" singer, who's starring as Nala opposite Donald Glover's Simba, disclosed the cover art on her website. The motion picture will debut in theaters on Thursday (July 18).

Kendrick Lamar's 'Good Kid M.A.A.d City' Is The Second Hip-Hop Album To Achieve This Feat

Kendrick Lamar’s good kid m.A.A.d city reportedly just achieved a major milestone on the Billboard charts.

Per the Twitter page Chart Data, the artist’s 2012 opus has spent a total of 350 weeks on the Billboard 200 Album chart, joining the ranks of Eminem’s The Eminem Show as the only other hip-hop album in history to achieve the feat.

Since dropping, Lamar’s LP has gained accolades the world over. In 2012, VIBE crowned good kid m.A.A.d city our Album of the Year, writing, “Glued by beautifully engineered soundscapes and accentuating skits, GKMC possesses both the structure and intricate nuances of an instant classic.”

Additionally, in 2014, the album became the subject of a new English composition class at Georgia Regents University. In the course “Good kids, Mad Cities,” students were able to compare and contrast the album to the words of writers, poets and authors such as Gwendolyn Brooks, James Baldwin, James Joyce and the film Boyz in the Hood.

50 Cent Releases 'Power' Theme Song Remix

Starz's critically-acclaimed drama Power will soon call it quits after five years and six seasons. With rumors of additional spinoffs, executive producer, rapper and actor, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has brought fans a new rendition of the series theme song "Big Rich Town," according to BET. 

He surprised fans with his latest power-play via Twitter on Friday (July 12). The remix features R&B casanova Trey Songz and emerging Bronx-native rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The new song is streaming on all major platforms.

Regardless oi the new song being a fan fave or not, the Power Season 6 late-August premiere is sure to drop jaws, now being titled "Final Betrayal". The official trailer for the supersized 15-episode season released Saturday (July 6).
