Geoffrey Owens Joins Cast Of 'Hide And Seek' Remake
Geoffrey Owens is set to play a security guard in the forthcoming film.
Geoffrey Owens is living proof that good things can come from bad situations. In his case, after being publicly ridiculed for working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s to make ends meet, he's stepping back into the film world. His most recent opportunity is a role as a family security guard on CJ Entertainment’s remake of Hide And Seek, Deadline reports.
The premise of the horror film has a socio-economic theme as it discusses the plight of affordable housing in urban areas and the dichotomy between those with money and those with limited resources. The film reportedly began production in New York City and features the likes of Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage), Joe Pontaliano (The Sopranos) and Jacinda Barrett (Bloodline), among others
Hide And Seek joins a growing number of projects Owens has accepted since the Trader Joe’s fiasco. He’s also starred in Tyler Perry’s The Haves And The Have Nots, and Fatale alongside Hilary Swank. Still, he remains aware of wanting to accept roles that he feels he’s earned, not because of the unfortunate incident that pushed him back into Hollywood’s gossip parameters.
In September, Owens told Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, "I know this might sound weird, but I wouldn't feel comfortable getting acting jobs from this event. I wouldn't mind getting auditions. I wouldn't mind if people called me in to try out for things due to what's happened, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with someone giving me a job because this happened. I want to get the job because I'm the right person."
Keep going, Geoffrey!
