Iggy Azalea Responds To Backlash For Performing While Backup Dancer Suffered Seizure
Iggy Azalea says she’s “worn down” by the backlash after a video went viral of her backup dancer suffering a seizure on stage while the Aussie rapper continued to perform. The seizure was caused by strobe lights during the performance, but Azalea later explained that she thought that the dancer “twisted her ankle.”
“It may sound harsh but you keep singing until the music stops & ask for a medic which is what I did,” Azalea wrote on Instagram Stories. “We are really shaken up by what happened & just thankful she is okay.”
In the video, shot during a concert at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Thursday (Dec. 27), Azalea is heard calling out for a medic before jumping back into the show. The backup dancer collapsed on stage and is seen shaking while being assisted by another one of Azalea’s dancers. Medical responders reportedly drove an ambulance directly to the stage to help the dancer.

In another post, Azalea wrote that she sometimes feels “exhausted” by the constant scrutiny. “Sometimes I really feel exhausted by the world. It feels like ANY thing [sic] I do becomes an opportunity for people to tell me why I’m sh**, why my music sucks, my clothes are ugly, why I don’t matter or why I’m a horrible person. I’m worn down.”
