Angela Bassett Comically Recites Erik Killmonger's Lines From 'Black Panther'
As the Oscars steadily approach (Feb. 24), everyone is getting back into the Black Panther spirit, which has been nominated for a few Academy Awards. It was also recently announced that the Marvel film will return to 250 AMC theaters in the U.S. in February, and to get moviegoers in the seats, the historic reel's co-star Angela Bassett decided to assume the role of a character that sought to wreak havoc on Wakanda.
For Buzzfeed News' AM2DM program, the iconic actress, who played Queen Ramonda, recited lines said by Erik Killmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan), including the meme-worthy "Hey Auntie" quip. Puffing out her chest and arms while trying to keep her composure, Bassett produced her hilarious take on the character.

Black Panther immediately served as a masterclass in cinematography and the messages intertwined served as more than words on a page. In a past interview with TooFab, Bassett discussed the lasting impact that the Ryan Coogler-directed movie will have on generations to come. "I think the movie works so brilliantly on so many levels," Bassett said. "It's superhero, marvel universe and all of that, but it connected with historians, it connected with culture, it connected globally, it just reached in and grabbed folks' hearts and their minds and shattered so many expectations and preconceived notions."
In under a month of its debut, Black Panther crossed the $1 billion mark, joining four other Marvel films to reach that feat (Captain America: Civil War, Age of Ultron, The Avengers, and Iron Man 3).
