Chance The Rapper Says He's Ashamed Of Friends Accused Of Sexual Abuse
Chance the Rapper is taking a stand against sexual abuse and domestic violence, and he's starting by calling out his friends and associates. The Chicago native hopped on Twitter on Wednesday (Jan. 9) and blasted his friends who have been accused of sexual abuse against women in the past couple of weeks.
"In the past 2 days I’ve heard too many stories of domestic abuse, sexual violence and rape perpetrated by ppl I called friends," Chano wrote. "I am ashamed of yall. These stories will be amplified and your victims will receive the justice they deserve."
Chance did not name any of the "friends" in his tweet, but a number of artists who run in his circle have been accused of sexual abuse in the last couple of weeks. Towkio, who Chance collaborated on the single "Juke Jam," has been accused of raping a woman during an encounter in 2011.
The woman, who uses the Twitter handle @pppermint, shared graphic details of Towkio allegedly coercing her into having sex with him. The same woman alleged that she was also sexually assaulted by Chance's drummer, Stix during a separate interaction.
Chance's recent statement comes on the heels of him speaking out about Surviving R. Kelly and the numerous allegations brought against the R&B singer. Chano stated that he made a mistake in working with R. Kelly in the past and neglected to acknowledge the countless black women who accused him of sexual violence.
