Views From The Strip: Drake Hints At Securing Las Vegas Residency

Securing the bag early, we see.

It looks like Drake may be on his way to Nevada, as he's reportedly hinted at securing a residency at the XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Toronto musician hinted after a 30-minute performance last week at XS (Jan. 10) that he may be back for an extended period of time.

"Vegas! When I came back, I thought it’d be back at T-Mobile Arena or some [stuff]," he told the crowd of nearly 5,000. "But I’ll be back here at XS all year. You’ll have a lotta chances to see me." According to the publication, Drake has reportedly "inked a 12-show deal over the next two years."

"Wynn has not announced its formal 2019 residency roster (the resort did issue a full 2018 list in the first week of last January), but this is the same club that has paid exorbitant fees for The Chainsmokers, Diplo, Dillon Francis, Marshmello and David Guetta, among others," they report.

Drake appears to have many reasons to celebrate this year. His latest album Scorpion is up for several awards at the upcoming Grammys, including "Best Rap Song" for "God's Plan," and Album Of The Year for the lengthy project.

Killer Mike Says Rappers Deserve Credit For Decriminalization Of Marijuana

As the country continues to work towards the decriminalization of marijuana, Killer Mike says that the hip-hop community should be credited for their part in the movement. During the "Free to State" panel discussion, which was held by The Washington Post on June 17, Killer Mike explained why rappers deserve some of the credit for decriminalizing the drug.

"We know that with national decriminalization of marijuana now, a lot of people are going to get credit for it—a lot of activists, a lot of workers," he stated. "But I can show you a line that leads straight back to Cypress Hill, that leads straight back to Snoop Dogg, that leads straight back to people like [the late R&B/funk guitarist] Rick James."

The Run the Jewels artist also noted that if hip-hop is not properly credited the stigmas and prejudices surrounding marijuana use will continue. "If it's not duly acknowledged publicly—if the media isn't pushing the line of that narrative, if the media isn't giving us that freedom, if the media treats rappers differently than they do country artists—then you're going to see a galvanization of what the prejudices that we already see," he continued.

See Killer Mike full stance on the subject in the video below.

Nipsey Hussle's Sister Debuts New Tattoo Dedicated To Brother

Nipsey Hussle's sister, Samantha Smith is paying homage to her late brother in a major way. Smith recently hopped on Instagram on Tuesday (June 18), where she debuted her new tattoo that was inked in memory of Nip.

The new tat is a beautiful portrait of the late rapper. In the caption, Smith appeared to address a poem or letter to her brother.

"To my brother who is the Key to Life. To my brother who’s strength is unmatched. To my brother who is honorable," she wrote. "To my brother who keeps his word.  To my brother who puts integrity before anything. To my brother who is the Color of Love."

She concluded the note by promising to " step into the path you have created. I will find what you have found. And we will be at home again. FOREVER YOUR BABY SISTER/60th STREET SAMANTHA."

Smith is not the only one with a tattoo of Nipsey. Lauren London and The Game both debuted their tatted portraits of Nip earlier this year.

50 Cent Says Bow Wow Returned The Money Intended For Strippers

50 Cent and Bow Wow have squashed their beef. Fif confirmed in a video on Monday (June 17) that he has collected his large debt from Bow Wow following their outing to a strip club earlier this month.

"So I just got off the phone with my man Ant. He called to tell me Bow Wow reached out and gave him the money so we cool and sh*t," 50 said in the video. "But I wanna do something to that n***a. I feel like the n**a stole my muthaf**kin' money. I f**king throw the money for the dancers and shit—this n***a picking it up and taking it home with him? But now that I got my money, I'm wishing Bow Wow peace, happiness, all the blessings that could come to him."

He also warned his fans to stop threatening the rapper on social media. "But y'all leave him alone," 50 insisted. "He feeling all kind of pressure! Muthaf**kas on his page like, 'Yo you owe 50 money, muthaf**ka! You better pay!' I know he's like, 'Ah!'"

As previously reported, 50 Cent accused Bow Wow of taking home money that Fif threw for the dancers at the strip club.  Bow Wow initially denied the reports on his own Instagram account, but it looks like the two came to a mutual agreement.
