Inmates Crown Kim Kardashian "Princess Of Prison Reform" Following Cyntoia Brown Clemency
Assisting with the release of Alice Marie Johnson and Mathew Charles, Kim Kardashian has strategically used her platform to assist in bringing more awareness to criminal justice reform. Cyntoia Brown's story was already a national conversation, but Kardashian has been credited with helping to make her clemency a reality.
After Brown's clemency was announced Monday (Jan. 7), according to sources close to the 38-year-old and TMZ, Kardashian received thousands of notes and letters from prisoners across the country asking for help from her legal team.
Beyond the titles of mother, wife, and famed social media maven, Kardashian has managed to earn a title worthy of the highest praise: "The Princess Of Prison Reform," a name given to the mother-of-three by prison staffers and inmates. Both hilarious and filled with admiration, the name is a questionable moniker for the reality star.
Lawmakers and activists such as the ACLU, Black Lives Matter Nashville and the Nashville city council have urged courts to overturn her life sentence. But in 2017, Kardashian enlisted a legal team that includes top-notch lawyer Shawn Holley, to help Brown's case, bringing it to a new level.
Since beginning her social justice crusades, Kardashian has received praise from Meek Mill, who gave her credit for her hard work and CNN host and activist Van Jones, who believe her efforts in prison reform would have not gotten far without her help.
Kardashian has yet to publically respond about any cases she has yet to take on but given the momentum of freeing three-wrongfully sentenced individuals, there is no need for stopping...right?
