Recording Academy Says There's No Validity To "Leaked" Grammy Winners List
Last night (Jan. 28), a Twitter user who uses the handle @everyday4you uploaded videos of the supposed winners of the upcoming Grammy Awards. A spokesperson for the Recording Academy said there was no validity to the "winners" announced.
"There is no legitimacy to this," a Recording Academy spokesperson tells Billboard. "Grammy Awards results are not shared, even with Recording Academy staff members, until the day of the Grammy Awards ceremony, when names of the recipients are delivered by [accounting firm] Deloitte in sealed envelopes."
The user, whose page is no longer active, revealed that the supposed winners included H.E.R. for Album Of The Year, Cardi B's "I Like It" for Record Of The Year, and Chloe x Halle for Best New Artist. The user also says that he had a deeper list of winners, which he claimed was found directly on the Grammy's official website. the Academy reportedly told Billboard that they are considering legal action and are in talks with their legal team.
The official winners of the coveted music awards will be announced at the official ceremony, which will take place on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles, Calif.
