10s, 10s, 10s: Teyana Taylor Gives Us Life In Her "WTP" Visual

Why y'all gagging so?

Teyana Taylor’s long-awaited video for “WTP” has finally been released.

The video, which features inspiration from the cult-classic documentary Paris Is Burning and ballroom culture as a whole, follows members of different Houses headed out to a ball. Teyana, who is from the “House Of Petunia,” appears to be in distress as she tries to figure out why she’s not invited to get 10s across the board with the other Vogue houses. However, thanks to her “fairy c**t motha" and some serious Cinderella vibes, Teyana is whisked away to to the ball, where she performs for the crowd. The video features appearances by Lena Waithe as well as Taylor’s husband, basketball player Iman Shumpert.

The eight-minute long visual was directed by Taylor, Gregory Jones, and was produced by The Auntie Production.
On Twitter earlier this week, Taylor wrote of her issues with her label Def Jam delaying the release of the visuals. Originally, the video was slated to drop on Jan. 19.

“My [Instagram] page is gone because I’m upset at @defjam for not dropping my damn “WTP” video on time, per usual,” she wrote.

We’re glad the video is finally out, and fans of the KTSE musician are singing the video's praises on social media. What do you think? Check out the video above and let us know.

Sizzla Sings From The Heart In His "Without You" Music Video

"Righteousness will always get a fight," Sizzla Kalonji once told me, "and that is only to make you stronger." That conversation took place in 1997, he year Sizzla electrified lovers of reggae and dancehall music with two landmark albums, Praise Ye Jah and Black Woman & Child. Sizzla has gone on to become one of the most prolific artists of his generation, releasing his most recent album, Million Times in September—a collection of 12 sweet love songs, touching on the sounds that made songs like "Just One of Those Days" and "Give Me A Try" so legendary.

"Beautiful people want to listen to the beautiful reggae music," Sizzla told me. "And you know reggae bashes against corruption. It’s not just a music to sing spirituality only and to make you feel good and sing love songs, conscious songs. And it’s good for social commentary, a very good music to be used for social commentary. And any little thing happen to the poor people, we’re quick to express ourselves on dancehall riddims and on the one-drop roots rock reggae riddim. And what we’re explaining and expressing is the total truth. It’s a music that can be used for expressing our innermost feelings and thoughts."

Today, VIBE and Boomshots proudly premiere the new music video from the album "Without You." Big Up Kalonji every time.

Million Times is out now on all music streaming platforms.

Kehlani Plays Bryson Tiller’s Love Interest In “Always Forever” Video

Kehlani stars as Tiller’s love interest in the intimate new music video for “Always Forever,” released on Thursday (Oct. 22).

The stunning visual, directed by Glenn Michael of Toronto’s Kid Studio, is a creative take on how a relationship can become your entire universe. Tyler and Kehlani cuddle up, kiss, and hold hand in the steamy visual, prompting some fans to question the chemistry between the two. They might look pretty cozy, but Kehlani and Tiller are just friends (Tiller welcomed a child with girlfriend Kendra Bailey last year).

Premiere: Jucee Froot's "T.H.U.G." Places The Mirror In Front of America

In a time of social unrest within America, a multitude of rap artists has stepped up to the plate with music that channels the pain, frustration, and despair of minorities while chastising the powers that be. Memphis rapper Jucee Froot, the creator of the theme to the Starz hit TV show, P-Valley, is the latest artist to address these pressing matters with the visual to her latest release, "T.H.U.G.," inspired by the ongoing police brutality and racially-charged incidents dividing the country.

Shot in Atlanta, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Orson Swells-directed video captures her holding court from a podium on the community's frontlines in between black-and-white clips of local riots. The song, inspired by the late Tupac Shakur's acronym for ‘The Hate U Give,’ captures the grim reality that comes with being a person of color in America. Contemplating "[if] you can't call police on police, who gon' save us," Jucee Froot—who felt compelled to address the elephant in the room as a mother of young black men herself—puts forth a powerful statement in "T.H.U.G." that doubles as a sign of the times and a testament to the range of her artistry.

And with a follow-up to her last full-length release, Black Sheep, on the way, "T.H.U.G." could be the calm before the storm as the Atlantic Records signee looks ready to take the next step in her evolution.

Join us for a live Q&A with Jucee Froot tomorrow, October 14 at 9 pm ET on VIBE's official Instagram page.
