Drake Thanks Kanye West, Lil Wayne, And More On 'So Far Gone' Anniversary
"I will never forget anybody involved in this journey."
Drake's breakout mixtape, So Far Gone officially turns 10 today (Feb. 13). The 18-track project is regarded as the kickstart to Drizzy's explosive career. In celebration of the huge milestone, the OVO artist penned a lengthy note on Instagram thanking all of the producers, features, and artists who contributed to the tape and his career altogether.
Drake particularly made sure to shout out Kanye West and Lil Wayne, both of which played a tremendous role in the early stages of his career. While he acknowledged Kanye's tweets– which have often targeted him for various reasons such as following Kim Kardashian on Instagram or not answering his calls– he thanked Ye for influencing him and changing the state of the culture.
"@kanyewest, a decade ago I rapped over your beat cause you just made the best shit and even though you stay wildin' on twitter these days I will never forget what you contributed to the game and my career," he wrote in the caption.
He later thanked Tunechi for giving him a chance. "@liltunechi , a decade ago you took me out of Toronto and gave me the biggest blessing anybody has ever given me," he continued. "I will never forget anybody involved in this journey even if you don’t fit in this caption."
Drake's note also gave special shoutouts to Trey Songz, whom collaborated on the mixtape's lead single "Successful," other featured guests including Omarion and Bun B, as well as Lebron James, Boi-1da, and more.
In addition to saluting his collaborators and supporters, Drake also announced that So Far Gone will be on streaming platforms for the first time ever on Thursday (Feb. 14).
