Mystikal Released From Prison On $3 Million Bond In Rape Case
"Based on all of the evidence we have, we strongly believe that an amicable resolution is not only possible but probable."
The money for bond reportedly came from an advance for a new recording deal as well as donations from friends and family, TMZ reports. Mystikal's attorney, Joel Pearce released a statement to the celebrity news site, suggesting that his client is innocent in the pending case.
"Based on all of the evidence we have, we strongly believe that an amicable resolution is not only possible but probable as an outcome in this case and that Michael Tyler will never be made to return to jail for a crime he didn't commit," he said.
As previously reported, Mystikal – born Michael Tyler – was detailed in August 2017 for first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping charges. The rapper has a long history of domestic abuse and sexual battery. In 2004, he was sentenced to six years in state prison after pleading guilty to forcing his hairstylist to perform sex acts on him. He was released in 2010, but was arrested two years later in connection to a domestic dispute. He did another three months for violating his probation.
