Kanye West Releases "Follow God" Video From 'Jesus Is King'
Kanye West has already released a short film to accompany his new gospel album Jesus Is King, but now he's released the record's first music video.
The story behind the creation of the "Follow God" visuals is shared with a few sentences at the end. "My dad came to visit me at one of our ranches in Cody, Wyoming. He talked about his love for fishing, and how he would like to come here in the summers.
"It took me 42 years to realize that my dad was my best friend," the statement continued.
His father asked him how many acres the property was, and when Kanye replied with 4,000, his father was seemingly amazed. "A black man?" he responded.
The video depicts Kanye and his father riding around in a pair of four-wheeled vehicles with a beautiful backdrop behind them, along with shots of Kanye rapping and the two of them sharing a laugh.
Jesus Is King is Kanye West's ninth studio album and his first in the gospel category, a creative mood that's followed nearly a year of Sunday Services events where he integrates choirs and sermons into gatherings. The album opened at number one on the Billboard 200 with 264,000 album-equivalent units.
