Earlier this week, footballer Colin Kaepernick found himself amidst controversy after a Miami woman accused him of sexual assault. Though she can't remember much, she recalls being encouraged to drink and smoke marijuana before being led into a bedroom with the 49er's star, who she had a previous sexual relationship with as well. After waking up in a hospital the day after with no recollection of what actually occurred, she decided to file a police report.
Today, the Miami Police reveal that there isn't sufficient evidence to support the "victim's" claims.
“There’s no evidence of a crime or a sexual assault. This report is simply an incident report taken at the woman’s request. … there are no specific allegations of wrongdoing," says spokesman Rene Pimental.
Kaepernick himself also addressed the rumors on Twitter and of course denied any involvement.
"The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened. I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up. I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced."
Let's hope he's right.
