In a over-the-phone conversation with Sway Calloway on Sirius XM's Sway In The Morning, President Barack Obama discussed the upcoming election, the importance of voting and why his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, won't be running for President in the future.
"She will never run for office,” POTUS said when prompted about if his wife will throw her hat into the ring. “She is as talented and brilliant a person as there is and I could not be prouder of her, but Michelle does not have the patience or the inclination to actually be a candidate herself. That’s one thing y’all can take to the bank." he laughed. However, he assured that both he and FLOTUS will continue to work tirelessly toward change.
"She’s gonna be, just as I am, we’re going to continue to be very active in terms of issues we care about."
No matter how you view the major party candidates, President Obama says that it's important to vote regardless because one of the candidates could really do some damage.
"You have a clear choice in this situation," he says when comparing Hillary Clinton to Republican nominee, Donald Trump. "This shouldn't be close and I will tell ya, as good as I feel about the work that we've done over the past eight years...if Mr. Trump is elected, all that stuff's reversed. All the progress that we've made goes out the window."
"I think Hillary [Clinton] gets a bad rep," he said of the Democratic nominee. "She's got as progressive an agenda as there's ever been."
He also offered up who some of his favorite rappers are today- Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Chance The Rapper, Kanye West and Jay Z, who is "still the King."
"Chance I've know for years, I first met Chance when he was eight years old," he gushed. "Kendrick is blowin' it up. He's doing great."
