Rihanna's Fenty Beauty line is undoubtedly the most diverse product out on the market right now. Even so, many fans have requested that she make it even more inclusive. While Rihanna is open to inviting everyone to have a seat at the table, she will not be casting anyone to fill a "diversity quota" of some sort.
When a fan requested that the singer include trans models in her next shoot, Rihanna politely replied with her thoughts. "I have had the pleasure working with many gifted trans women throughout the years, but I don't go around doing trans castings," she wrote. "I respect all women whether they're trans or not is none of my business."
She continued by informing the fan that not all trans women feel comfortable talking about their journey, and it's their right either way. She also criticized unnamed brands for exploiting trans identities and using them as the "token" model.
"I don't think it's fair that a trans woman or man be used as a convenient marketing too," she explained. "Too often do I see companies doing this to trans and black women alike! There's always just that one spot in the campaign for the token 'we look mad diverse' girl/guy. It's sad!"
