Back in August, reports of a possible Fresh Prince of Bel Air reboot connected to Will Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment surfaced, sending fans into a state of nostalgic bliss. It's been fairly quiet since then, but while promoting his latest film Bright, the actor jokingly shared more details about the remake.
I’d have to be Uncle Phil in that one. I’m 50,” Smith told Graham Norton last week (Dec. 21). He then joked how he's too old to reprise his original role as the one and only Fresh Prince. “Like, ‘C’mon, Aunt Viv! I’m 50. I can’t go out on my own?'”
Smith did a good job of teasing fans in March about the reboot when he posted a photo of the cast, but he explained to Norton that the reunion was part of charity luncheon Karyn Parsons hosts every year.
The series helped launch his legendary film career, but he's not too thrilled about the early episodes. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Smith admitted that his green demeanor could be seen in the early episodes. “It was my very first role, and I was very, very focused on being successful, so I learned the whole script and everyone else’s lines,” he said. “If you watch the first four or five episodes, you can see I’m mouthing other people’s lines. It’s terrible and I can’t bear to watch it.”
Meanwhile, Smith is enjoying the positive fan response to his Netflix film Bright and his new Instagram account.
