Late last year, Essence announced that they'll be honoring hip-hop icon Missy Elliott at the 2018 Black Women in Music ceremony during Grammy week. The publication recently added that rappers Rapsody and Leikeli47 will honor the superstar at the event.
The ninth-annual celebration will be held on Jan. 25 at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. Rapsody, who is up for two awards at this year's Grammy ceremony, is a favorite of Missy's, who tweeted her praises of the Laila's Wisdom MC late last year.
Masked marvel Leikeli47 has also gotten the attention of the four-time Grammy winner, who has called her "super dope." The feeling is also mutual for the Brooklynite.
"[Missy is] a walking legend," she said in a 2015 interview. "I’m stuttering! She’s that dope! She’s that ill! She’s the reason why I’m here, I’m one of Missy’s kids..."
Looks like this tribute will be in great hands.
