JAY-Z isn’t shy when it comes to speaking on the dysfunctional judicial system. When it was announced Meek Mill was released from prison after serving five months, Jay thanked Meek’s supporters, joining the list of celebrities celebrating his release.

Meek’s freedom was granted Tuesday (April 24) by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court when they sent Judge Genece Brinkley, the judge presiding over Meek’s case, a mandate for his release. Reactions of joy ricocheted throughout social media from Meek fans and celebrity friends like Kevin Hart, T.I., YG, Rihanna, Rick Ross as well as Hov.

“Today, Meek Mill, a son of Philadelphia, is a free man. He was incarcerated unjustly and caught in a probation trap for years by a broken system,” Jay wrote on Facebook. “Now we can celebrate.”

In Roc Nation’s statement, the company said they’re happy with the court’s decision and pledged to fight for the reform of the criminal justice system.

“We are pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision to grant Meek Mill bail and allow him to return home to his loved ones,” Roc Nation said in a statement. “We are grateful for all the support that Meek has received from his fans and public advocates over the past five months and look forward to working alongside Meek to fight for criminal justice reform.”

Shortly after Meek’s release he took a ride with 76ers players and co-owner Michael Rubin to the game against Miami Heat and rang the Liberty Bell before tipoff.

Welcome home, Meek.
