Following the shocking murder of rising rapper XXXTentacion on Monday afternoon (June 18), the "Moonlight" artist's management team has issued a statement on the matter.
After asking the general public to respect XXXTentacion's family during this grieving period, his manager Solomon Sobande, as well as attorney Bob Celestin and Empire Distribution, highlighted XXXTentacion's global impact.
"XXXTentacion touched the lives of millions around the globe and will forever reside in the hearts of countless fans who listened to his music, attended his concerts, and felt the glow of his uncontainable, undeniable, and unique spirit," the statement reads.
The 20-year-old ? artist, born Jahseh Onfroy, was killed during an attempted robbery outside of Riva Motosports in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Local law enforcement recently posted a bulletin asking civilians for any information on the assailant(s).
Alongside gaining attention for his music, Onfroy's reported history of physical abuse against his previous pregnant girlfriend also received notice. Recently, Geneva Ayala, the woman who reportedly accused Onfroy of abuse, was left in shock at the news of his passing. "I don't want to believe this," she wrote. "No one knows. The sh*t I feel for you."
Details of a memorial service are still forthcoming.
