Most fans live for the Coachella moments that penetrate eardrums and prompt moshes, but the fest needs its fare share of mellow, melodic acts to even the playing field for all types of attendees. Toro Y Moi, led by the modest and even-tempered Chaz Bundick, delivered a hearty helping of summertime tracks to constant applause.
Earlier in the day, UK group Clean Bandit basked in the breeze and blew the house down with killer vocals. Much to the lounging crowd’s delight, they brought out Marina and the Diamonds to debut some new music.
Then, there was FKA Twigs was all mystique and seduction during her set on the Gobi stage. With the switch of her hips, the UK crooner got lost into the surround-sound melodics — “Two Weeks” was a fan fave” — of her well-received album, LP 1.
Finally, we caught Aaron Jerome of SBTRKT — a frequent collaborator with mystic crooner Sampha — who brought out his mask and stirred & soothed the crowd with great beats and better vibes.
