After a year-long dispute in federal court, actress Janet Hubert, known for her role as Aunt Viv in the ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, lost a legal battle seeking medical coverage for certain health ailments, the Jasmine Brand reports.
The 58-year-old actress sued the American Federation of Television and Radio Acts and the AFTRA health organization in 2013 after they cut off coverage for her pressing health conditions including vertigo, “intense spasms,” and “strange chattering.” Hubert also states that her insurance also cut off coverage for her many medical needs because they deemed her conditions “not being medical necessary,” thus causing the actress to turn down movie roles.
A federal court judge dismissed Hubert’s case leaving her empty-handed.
